OK Sooner Nira 'Sis' Smith wins Bobbie Breeze

Underworked Ericksen wore the yellow jersey for the whole party and won all 3 of game picks tonight. But, in the end he conceded the award to Nira 'Sis' Smith who selected the same winners with more points on the same games. Nice try Scott, maybe next year you won't choke on your point selections and know the point leader at the end of the night wins, not the leader at the beginning of the night.

For the first time in the awards history, the Bobbie Breeze award went to a non-Rocky Bowl party attendee. A vote was taken and it was determined that the award can be given to Rocky's sister. The post game presentation was done over the cell phone network. Another first ... The Rocky Bowl leads the nation in it's use of technology to manage it's contest ;)

Congratulations Sis. Display the trophy with pride in Oklahoma. Please send us a picture with the award and we will post in on the Rocky Bowl site.

Rockybowl Party Menu Announced ...

Rockybowl partiers,

Well the chef has pondered for 364 days before coming up with even a greater menu then last year. Prior to dinner his first course he will prepare tender, juicy barbecue wings from an enchanted species of bird along with scrumptious seafood spreads imported from waters never heard of before.

By the time the salad is prepared you will wonder what other wonders you have missed in your life, as you will taste the most delicious Caesar salad ever created, lightly touched with a dressing unknown to the western world. The toasted crumbles of breading will highlight the imported seeds releasing the taste that you will marvel about. Now on to the meat of the evening, so delicate, tender and succulent I will not even try to describe these different types but you will never again in your life experience the taste, which will be matched by the garden items to accompany this entrée.

So much to imagine I sincerely hope you’re able to participate in this feast.

Rocky Bowl Party Tonight - Friday Dec 28th

Well, it will soon be time again to have a bodacious night at Rockybowl HQ and imbibe in bragging, dissing, insults and fun. I hope to have a good turn out this year and expect the food to even be better then last year.

Not sure what how we will improve that but will do our best.

Also as the Rockybowl continues to get larger and much more time to run so I will mention now the Rockybowl is for friends who want to enjoy the bowl games with banter and fun. So Rockybowler's this website and the party are two ways to get noticed so you will continue to received an invitation to next years Rockybowl. Now that Christmas is over and we have 26 more games to bitch and brag about I expect to hear from everyone.

Boise State does it again ..

For the second straight year, Boise State has turned the Rocky Bowl upside down with a dramatic finish. Last year with their improbable victory over OK in the Fiesta Bowl, and last night with their improbable loss to ECU. Who the the hell is ECU and what are they doing playing in a Bowl game? First FAU and now ECU, what in the world is college football coming to ... Next thing you know, Hawaii will be in a Major BCS bowl...

I have to admit, when I saw T 'Not for Tech' Nelson with 27 pts on ECU, I thought to myself 'Sucker'. But, look who's laughing now... Nice job 'T' ...

And that same pick leaves "Temper Tantrum" Bennett Long as the only undefeated entry and at the top of the Points Possible Sheet. Don't spend the money yet though, I see you have picked USC again with 30 points. Some kids never learn ;)

And look who is the current leader.... Underworked Ericksen ... He must have been spending his long work less days analysing the BCS polls. Next thing you know, he'll be right next to Sagarin as a BCS pollster...

I won't say who's in the Toilet bowl lead... He's such a rookie... And he's probably shakin' in his boots now that TO is hurt...

Hello Rocky Bowlers ...

The first game is in the books. For those of you who watched the Poinsettia Bowl (Utah .vs. Navy) at the edge of your seats, now realize what the Rocky Bowl is all about. 2 teams that virtually no one cares about, except the Rocky Bowlers that selected them in their pool, playing a great game down to the wire.

The midshipmen just couldn't replicate their first win over Notre Dame since Roger 'The Dodger' Staubach led them to victory and took home the Heisman in 1963. But, they sure gave Rockybowlers something to pay attention to when they scored a late touchdown with 57 seconds remaining to get within a field goal and then recovered an on-side kick. But, the Utes preserved the victory with yet another interception. Congratulations to John "3 in the Pool" Hopewell and My Gal Schlicker (2007 next to last) who posted a 31 on the first game to get out to an early lead.

The current Master Score Sheet is now posted under popular Rocky Bowl Links, so download it and review your selections. You never know if Rocky actually Cut & Paste correctly. The IT hotline was ringing off the hook during his efforts to Copy, Paste-->Values-->Transpose. Whatever ... But, I think he got it in the end.

But, we'll give you through the week-end to lodge any formal protests against the Commi Commissioners. After that, the Master becomes official. So, don't fall asleep at the wheel. Check it out before Christmas Eve. If you snooze, you lose!

I must file the first formal protest in Rockybowl 2008. My name is Mel “B’vue Buckeye”, not “Trim my Hedge”. I don’t even have a hedge. The only person I know in this pool who would slander me with that kind of name is Kevin Dunkley, a jealous “football envy” guy from the University of Nebraska. Given that his team is not bowling, he obviously has lots of time to come up with idiotic names for those of us who attended colleges which have retained strong football programs and traditions. No more free beer here, Kevin.

Fla. St. shaken by fraud scandal

Headline in the Chicago Tribune and shakes up many of the early entries in the Rocky Bowl. Tough luck says several of the participants who have not submitted their picks as yet. They all claimied they we going with Kentucky all the time.

Nira "Sis" Smith states: "YOU $%&^&%*%* brother of mine, how can you not let me redo my pick". Well this co-commish is not only GOOOOOD LOOOKIN but fair as well. So...........................Sis, lets not forget my christmas present.

If you have picked Florida State over Kentucky please send me an eamil and you can change your pick to Kentucky if your panticked by this news. BUT YOU MUST KEEP THE SAME NUMBER for Kentucky as you had for Florida State.

We hope this is fair to all of the early enteries.

If you are having trouble with the MS Excel sheet, hit the rockybowl2008 In-Box with your questions and we'll have our IT department get back to you ASAP. Hopefully before Dec 20th.

Entries are due before kick-off of the Utah - Navy Poinsettia Bowl at 9:00pm ET, Thursday Dec 20th. That's 6:00pm PT for you slow folks on the Pacific Coast. You mid-westerners are on your own...

Welcome the the 7th Annual Rocky Bowl. We hope to find all of our Rocky Bowlers in good health and ready to once again try and be"The King Rocky Bowler". A few things may be different this year, you will electronically email your entry back to this rockybowl2008@comcast.net and you will GET YOUR MONEY IN ON TIME.

If you have not filled out your entry form, send your money anyway cause email travels faster then our US Postal. (Sorry Pistol Packing Postal Guy).

This Blogsite will be used to post updated standings and host a forum for you to banter, bitch, and brag (Gary Long seams to do all of those very well). Do not forget that Gary is the reigning 2 time champion of the Half way trophy, the Bobby Breeze award.

In the Commissioners attempt to encourage more blog activity this year, we eliminated passwords and created links to post comments, I hope this is the case, please blog us all with your witt and humor.

Remember , the current leader wears the yellow jersey at the Rocky Bowl Party. The leader at the end of the night takes the Bobby Breeze award in honor of The Top Rocky Bowler of all time, the late Bobbi Gregory.

We still have some unfinished business from last year, we need to present the towel bowl award to Good Neighbor Ali. Should we trash him for never picking it up? Lets pass the buck since I never delivered it to him.

A measily $20 entry fee is required. To help with costs everyone will be supporting the Rocky Bowl Party if you come or not by donating up to $2.00 of your entry fee to the party. The party is scheduled to begin at 4pm on Friday December 28th and will continue until after the Bobby Breeze award is determined. Food will be served, but you will bring your own drink!

To invite someone who has not participated before please forward their name and email address to us and we will forward a copy of the entry form and place them on the mailing list.
